project. If you have another topic you are passionate about, check with the
instructor for permission to use the topic.
This assignment calls for you to select a clinical problem, then search the literature to find interventions to help alleviate the problem.
First, select a clinical problem that you can implement to improve patient processes or outcomes.
Then, give three recommendations from the literature to solve the problem.
Example:
The clinical problem identified for this quality improvement project is a lack of understanding in healthcare providers on the necessity of preventing urinary catheter associated urinary tract infections.
Three recommendations from the literature are:
1. Education for providers on the importance of utilizing sterile technique when inserting urinary catheters……Specifically, tell how this will be done.
2. Creating a checklist that is embedded in the electronic medical record on the appropriate diagnoses for the utilization of urinary catheters. Tell how this will be done.
3. Another recommendation from the literature. Make sure you tell how each of the recommendations will be done in this project.
The problem and the recommendations need to match. For example, if you identify a problem that is lack of education, you can educate the healthcare providers, then create accompanying documents to support the education. If your problem is simply urinary tract infections, there are multiple causes, so frame the problem with something you can create an intervention for.
This reflective journal does not need to be in the APA template, simply use a word document. Make sure you fully explain the problem, then the recommendations from the literature and how it will be completed in the project.
