A. Create a standards-based elementary (grades K–6) disciplinary-specific literacy lesson plan. The lesson plan must integrate writing instruction and digital literacy within a specific discipline area for a specified grade level. All elements of the lesson plan must be aligned. Use the attached ” Direct Instruction Lesson Plan ” to do the following:
Note: Parts A1 through A7 must relate to the same lesson plan, not multiple lesson plans.
1. Identify all the required general information for the lesson plan, including each of the following elements:
• the lesson’s title
• the lesson’s subject
• the lesson’s grade, level, or setting
• one prerequisite skill and the knowledge required for the lesson
2. Identify each of the following lesson components:
a. one discipline-specific lesson standard, such as math, science, social studies, health, or theater arts, and one English Language Arts (ELA) writing standard.
Note: Writing conventions are not appropriate for this lesson plan(e.g., handwriting, punctuation, spelling, grammar).
b. one measurable objective students should achieve to demonstrate they meet the standards, including the following required components:
• behavior
• condition
• measurable criterion
3. Identify the necessary materials and technology for the lesson plan by doing the following:
a. List the materials necessary to complete the lesson.
b. Identify the technology used in the lesson.
4. Discuss the language demands included in the lesson by doing the following:
a. Identify the language function(s).
b. Identify the vocabulary used in the lesson.
c. Identify discourse or syntax used in the lesson.
d. Identify one language support used in the lesson.
5. Explain lesson presentation procedures, including both teacher and student actions, for each of the following points:
a. anticipatory set
b. presentation procedures for new information or modeling
c. guided practice
d. independent student practice
e. culminating or closing procedure or activity
6. Discuss how the lesson will differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students by doing the following:
a. Describe the differentiated instruction that will be used in the lesson to meet the needs of students who are gifted and talented.
b. Describe the differentiated instruction that will be used in the lesson to meet the needs of students whose native language is not English.
c. Describe the differentiated instruction that will be used in the lesson to meet the needs of students with mild to moderate learning disabilities.
7. Explain how to assess student progress toward reaching the lesson learning objective by doing the following:
a. Describe a formative assessment used in the lesson that helps monitor student progress toward reaching the lesson learning objective.
b. Provide a copy of the summative assessment that measures student achievement of the lesson learning objective (using a rubric, checklist, graphic organizer, or other evaluation technique).
B. Describe an opportunity for students to demonstrate digital literacy within the lesson plan.
