Action Research Report: (Final Project: 50% of your final grade)
Students will design an action research proposal that addresses an issue or problem within either their own or another teacher’s classroom. Candidates will use inquiry-based techniques to frame a set of questions, search and synthesize relevant current literature related to the issue and potential solution, identify a methodology, implement at least one method, collect and analyze data (progress monitoring), and detail results by relating implications to practice and for future research.
Part 1 (5% of final grade) Cover Page:
Include the title of the paper, your name, and institutional affiliation, Course (EDU 602), Professor’s name, and due date of assignment (this information should be centered, mid page).
Rationale/Background Information:
Provide the background information leading to your Action Research Study (i.e., The educational background of the student, current educational setting, previous and/or current interventions and rate of success and/or failure, etc.). – Length should be about a page
Problem Statement:
What is the undesirable variable and what is its impact on the student’s learning process?
Research Questions:
What do you intend to find out?
Part 2 (5% of final grade)
Literature Review:
Discuss your research… Review a few different studies that focus on the different aspects of your research question. Students should cite their work in accordance with the APA format. At least nine citations and about five to six pages.
We will have some time to work on this in class!
Methodology:
Which methods are you going to use to collect your data? Why did you choose those methods?
This includes three subheadings
Site and Participants- who are the people in your study? Why did you choose them? Where will this study take place?
Data Collection Methods- How will you carry out this study? What will you be doing?
Researcher Role and Ethical Considerations- what is your role as the researcher/teacher inquirer, and how will you plan for remaining ethical throughout the research study.
Final Paper (30% of final grade)
Part 1/2:
Revise
Results 2 parts-
Data Analysis Process- what was the actual process of getting these results and starting to analyze them? Describe the process
Data Analysis and Findings-
What did you actually find? Making sense and meaning of the data gathered during your research (students may use graphs and charts) Taking your raw data and transferring it into data that can be analyzed. Include at least one image and
make sure ALL images are explained in words as well.
Discussion:
The purpose of this section is to highlight the major statistical findings from the Data Analysis section and interpret them. What does your study show? Discuss the results of the intervention in a narrative form (i.e., success vs. failure, effect of different variables, etc.)
Strengths and Limitations:
This section should report the strengths and limitations that resulted from the research methods.
All studies have limitations in terms of the sample, measurement or manipulation of key variables, and procedure for data collection. How could the research be conducted with a different research design? How may the participants and sampling techniques not be representative of the target population? How might the target population be limited? How were the instruments inadequate? Were there any problems with the treatment? What problems resulted from the study’s procedures? What other unexpected problems arose in the data collection?
Every single research study ever conducted in the history of this world was limited by money, resources, and time. These factors are external to the study and should not be mentioned.
Recommendations:
Give recommendations based on the results of the study. What practical steps can educators take to implement the key findings of the research study?
Suggestions for Further Research:
Based on the Discussion/Summary of Findings and Limitations of the study, what additional research should be conducted? What questions arose because of the major finding of your study? How can other research studies improve over the limitations that were described in the Limitations section?
Conclusions:
Briefly summarize the overall conclusion of the data analysis based on the purpose of the study. Also explain the importance of the major finding to educational practice.
Final Reflection which includes a reflection on the researcher’s experience as a teacher inquirer, what they learned about teacher research, and the ways in which they might use teacher research in the classroom in the future.
References:
List all the sources you have used in your project, so readers can easily find what you have cited. Must use APA format.

The topic that should be researched is as follows:
I hope to study a child with difficulty remaining seated during lessons and often disturbs the class. This falls under the passion of a child.
The deadlines for each part are as follows:
Part 1 is due October 28th at midnight
Part 2 is due November 11th at midnight
The final version of the paper (post revisions) is due December 5th
