Throughout this course, I learned a lot of valuable lessons that I will carry with me throughout the rest of my education here at Post University and beyond. One of the valuable lessons I learned was in relation to pre-writing. Before this course, if I had to do a writing assignment, I would often spend a lot of time staring at a blank Word document until an idea hit me, and then frantically start writing whatever I could before the deadline. Through this course, I have learned about valuable pre-writing techniques, such as diagramming and freewriting, that have made that struggle a thing of the past. Now, I can write much more efficiently than I could before, and am not stressing out in front of a blank Word document a few hours before the deadline anymore.
Another valuable lesson that I learned from this course was the value of peer feedback. Previously, the majority of my work has been done in a vacuum, with the only person reading it from beginning to end being me. However, through the peer reviews that we have done in this class, the value of peer feedback is clear to me. Thanks to suggestions from my classmates, I have been able to make my essays exponentially better than they would have been otherwise, and I will always ask for the inputs of my peers moving forward.
