This assessment involves creating a unit of work based on the outcomes of the NSW K-10 PDHPE syllabus. Your unit should be based on either S1, S2 or S3 stage.
There are 2 main components to this task, each of which are detailed below: You are advised to read this assessment outline in conjunction with the sample unit plan and sample lesson plan proformas.
1. Unit Plan
Develop one unit plan based primarily on the active strand of Movement Skill and Performance and integration with the strand of either Health, Well being and Relationships or Healthy, Safe and Active Lifestyles.
Your devised unit needs to have a central theme and should consist of a minimum of 6 lesson outlines. The unit plan should include the following information:
Unit title
Unit aim or objective
Unit outcomes – list the syllabus outcomes that are relevant to your unit (written in full, not just the codes), including knowledge and understanding and skills.
Unit assessment – outline the assessment strategies that you will use throughout the unit and link these directly to outcomes.
Specific syllabus content – list all syllabus content that you will cover across your unit of work. Place the syllabus content across from (i.e., connected to) each of the six lesson titles and summary.
Six Lesson Titles: – under each of your 6 lesson titles, provide a brief overview of the learning covered for each lesson, including what the lesson is about, the planned learning activities, and teaching strategies. Teaching strategies are synonymous with pedagogies (i.e., teacher to student-centred learning approaches).
*Place an asterisk against one of the six lesson titles to identify which lesson you are providing in detail (see below).
Equipment/resources list
Unit evaluation- include a mix of student- centred and teacher-centred evaluation criteria.
** It is recommended that you use the Unit Plan proforma/template that is available on MyLearn (attached).
2. Detailed lesson plan
You will need to select one lesson from your unit plan to outline in detail. Please note that your lesson needs to be ‘active’ (i.e., needs to include physical education) and should contain the following information:
Unit title – as listed in your unit plan.
Lesson details – include lesson title and lesson duration (time is 60 minutes for Stage 3, 50 minutes for Stage 2, and 1 and 40 minutes for Stage 1), as well as the stage and grade the lesson is planned for.
Lesson objective— outline what you want students to achieve through this specific lesson.
Outcomes – should be specific to the lesson and directly linked to the assessment strategies.
Assessment – outline assessment and include how it is to be ‘scheduled into the lesson’. Assessment must be specific and detailed (attach full copies of any assessment criteria/techniques in appendix).
Lesson equipment/resources to cater for maximum learning opportunities for the designated number of students in your hypothetical class.
Detailed lesson plan – describe all phases of the lesson, including the introduction/warm-up, body/skill development, and conclusion/cool-down. Your active lesson plan needs enough detail so that any teacher could theoretically pick up the plan and effectively teach the lesson. Include information relating to:
Learning activities and teaching strategies (be explicit and attach full copies of any worksheets, presentations, games, questions, in appendix).
Provide modifications for a child with movement difficulties (Developmental Coordination Disorder) throughout the flow of the lesson.
Organisation of students: Plan for 27 students. Diagrams and icons are highly recommended for this part of your lesson plan.
Time breakdown for each activity/task
Lesson evaluation- include a mix of student- centred and teacher-centred evaluation criteria.
Must use the template attached labelled Assessment 2 that work has commenced in although you can change details as needed from what i have attempted. also sample work attached from previous students submission and marking rubric
