Preparation
Get out in your community and take note of where you see ads and where you see product. Notice the packaging and features. How easy is it to get vape products?
Vapes were purported to be used for adults to quit or have a healthier way to smoke. Are they?
The CDC states 2.5 million young people vape (1). The National Library of Medicine (NLM) calculated that JUUL made between $130 million and $650 million of its net revenue from youth, depending on consumption scenarios. Assignment Instructions
Find an ad (web or social media) or package of a vape product that looks like it is marketed to teens. Take a photo or screenshot and post it. You cannot post the same as another post.
Tell us what element makes it look like it is for a younger audience.
Provide a comment on the impact of marketing vape products-either personal, from what you see in peers or in family use. What % of the people that you are close to smoke or vape? What scale of SUD is it? (use, abuse, addiction)
Currently, vapes in CA cannot have flavor or be sold to those under 21. Should vape use be more regulated in a different way? How? You must give a regulation suggestion for full credit.
5. What might be a way to deter teen use? What message and where would you put it? You must have a fact that you learned about smoking or vaping that you think might deter use.
