My disorder of choice that caught my attention the most is Binge Eating Disorder. This disorder can look different from bearer to bearer but follows a pattern of consuming large amounts of food at once when facing emotionally stressful situations. Personally I feel that I have faced similar signs of this disorder in my own life which has greately affected who I am. Like the book tells the reader, “researchers believe dopamine release stimulates and plays a major role in what we call an eating addiction” this eating addiction is fueled by the reward of tasty food. The inability to control and regulate ones desire to eat sweets or savory food directly relates to weight gain and in turn a negative self image. This negative self image can further stress an individual and lead down a never ending spiral of binge eating. I believe with proper support and help anyone suffering from one or many symptoms can move forward and end their disordered eating. Community meetings can take place to educate parents and children on these diseases as to reach out for support. Education is the number one thing we can do as a community but it starts with everyone at home.
