Essay #2 will be written on the play that we have read in class. You will choose one of the below
prompts and write a literary analysis essay. Remember that the prompts provide you with a
focused perspective as you present your original idea. You will need to find two scholarly
sources from Louisiana Tech’s library database and integrate material from these sources within
your essay. Do not overquote. Your essay should include at least 70% of your own analysis.
Requirements
• Develop a focused thesis that discusses an idea that is not overtly shown in the play.
• Develop specific topic sentences and clear transitions.
• Include a Works Cited page that lists your primary source and the two scholarly sources.
• Include MLA in-text citations (direct quotations, paraphrase, and brief summary).
• Do not use first or second person (I, we, me, us, our, you, your,).
• Use present verb tense.
• Your word count should be between 1,000-1,200 words.
