Part 1: Choose three readings from the career-related materials that resonated with you. For each reading, identify a significant point and respond substantively. Your response should not merely agree with or regurgitate the text. Instead, it should sincerely extend, complicate, or illustrate the author’s point. Make an argument! (If none of them were instructive in any way, drop into my office hours) Part 2: Reflect on how what you’ve gained from each of the three readings could influence the rhetorical impact of your resume, cover letter, or job/internship interview approach. For example, how might a point from one of the readings inform the way you present yourself in professional documents or interviews? Or what implications could it have on your entry into the labor market? Grading Considerations: First, I recommend reading the rubric. Second, your reflection should demonstrate thoughtfulness and engagement with the readings. Successful responses will be: • Well reasoned • Well supported • Free of BS #1 (like vague, generic, or unfounded/sweeping claims) • Free of BS #2 (do not pretend that you have learned something obvious for the sake of completing this assignment. Please, be real in the same way you expect me to be real with you.
