Part3) IMPORTANT: Before writing this section, make sure to read my comments on your WK9-L22 to L25 and WK10-L3 to L5.
Write two paragraphs for this section.
WK11-L1: In the first paragraph, talk about whether you found support for your hypothesis or not. If you did not, write about possible explanations why the hypothesis was not supported.
(To submit your paragraph, used the link listed at the bottom of this page.)
WK11-L2: In the second paragraph, discuss what direction future research on this topic should take based on your findings. Make a suggestion for future research. You can discuss one of the following:
If you think your study had a weakness, discuss what the weakness was and then discuss how you would rectify the problem. For example, if you think the variable(s) you analyzed was not measured well, explain why you think the variables was poorly measured and discuss how you would measure the variable more accurately in the survey.
Discuss how you would expand knowledge on the topic based on your findings. Is there any new variable(s) that should be included in the analysis to understand the relationship between the variable you examined? You can suggest any variable(s) you like, but you typically suggest to include in the analysis important extraneous variable(s) that are related to both the independent and dependent variables.
Example:
My hypothesis was that males have higher support for the death penalty than females. My analysis of the GSS data showed that my hypothesis was correct. 77% of males, compared to 68% of females, support the death penalty in cases of murder. Overall, the great majority of adults in the United States support the death penalty, but there is a difference between males and females, with males showing slightly more support.
In the future, I would like to consider the role that political orientation, along with gender, has on opinions about the death penalty. Women have been treated as a minority in the US for a long time and they tend to have more liberal views on various social issues. It is possible that political orientation functions as a mediator in the relationship between gender and opinions about death penalty. By including political orientation in the analysis, we can understand more deeply how gender affects opinions about death penalty.
