Generating Solutions/Ideas Discussion
Now that you have identified what problem you want to address in the targeted community, begin to brainstorm what potential solutions could be applied to help with this human centered problem. Do some research on solutions from any field that currently exist and solutions that have been implemented in the past to address your chosen problem. In your research find out how effective were the solutions and what factors contributed to them to be effective or not effective. Your research does not have to be bounded by geography. Research solutions used by other countries with the same problem to see what was tried, what worked, and what did not work.
Use this discussion board to share with your classmates your ideas about solutions for the problem you chose. Your post should be a conversational, informal sharing of thoughts and ideas.
In your post share some of the ideas you have brainstormed and your rationale about why you think those could be viable solutions.
You can also share:
how you came up with your solution ideas/your thinking process
interesting information you came across in your research of current and/or past solutions
what factors contribute to a solution being effective or ineffective
what are the limitations of the solution ideas
how you could work around the limitations of the solution ideas
next steps required in creating and implementing those solutions
The ideas you share on this discussion board are not a commitment to implementing one of your shared solutions, this is just an initial brainstorm of possibilities.
This discussion is intended to give you the opportunity to think through the potential solutions available for this project. Sharing with your peers gives you the chance to see what your classmates are thinking for their project and share insights you might have that would help.
For this discussion, you are required to post a reply to one of your peer’s post. Any thoughts about their plans? Any suggestions that you can provide to assist them? Hearing someone else’s thoughts can help make your own thinking evolve. This is an informal sharing of ideas, you are welcome to cite sources but it is not required.
