Project Description:
We are looking a person with a experience in image processing and programming in MATLAB or Python to analyze videos from experiments conducted on the gelation of a substance. The objective of this project is to detect, quantify, and analyze the formation of voids during the gelation process using advanced image processing techniques.
Specific Tasks:
Image Processing for Void Detection:
– Image Segmentation: Implement segmentation techniques on the experimental videos to identify areas that correspond to voids in the gel structure. This could include the use of adaptive thresholding, edge-based segmentation, or any other technique deemed appropriate.
– Image Filtering: Apply filters to enhance image quality, reduce noise, and improve contrast between the voids and the rest of the gelled material.
– Connected Component Analysis: Identify and quantify the connected regions that represent voids in the gel, calculating properties such as size, shape, and spatial distribution of these voids.
Process Automation:
– Development of Scripts in MATLAB/Python: Create scripts to automate the processing of the experimental videos. These scripts should be capable of processing the video efficiently, generating results systematically.
– Workflow Optimization: Ensure that the analysis process is as efficient as possible without compromising the accuracy of the analysis.
Generation of Quantitative and Visual Results:
– Statistical Analysis: Extract and present quantitative data on the voids, such as size distribution, void density per unit area, and the temporal evolution of the voids during the gelation process, Also if it were possible to calculate the approximate volume it would be great data, unfortunately we do not have videos from multiple angles to do the 3D reconstruction, if you have any suggestions on how we can do this reconstruction I would appreciate it, because calculating the volume of the voids is an important data.
– Result Visualization: Generate graphs and visualizations that clearly display the obtained results, including void size distribution charts, histograms, and temporal sequences.
Documentation and Reporting:
– Code Documentation: Ensure that all developed code is well-documented to facilitate understanding and future modifications.
– Result Reporting: Prepare a technical report summarizing the methods used, the results obtained, and the conclusions drawn from the void analysis.
