Project Introduction
In this unit, we discussed the ideas of performance management. On page, 237 the text discusses different approaches to employee development. I think employee development is one of the most important parts of being an HR manager. I know as an employee I was always looking for ways to move up in the company and I strived for development in the workplace. There were companies who would appreciate this desire and there are others that would not do anything pertaining to development. In the “Approaches to Employee Development” the authors discuss these different approaches that we can use.
Project Directions
A. For the first part of the entry, create two or three paragraphs discussing the types of development strategies you would use as an HR manager. Which items would you not use and why? For instance, flexible hours…would you allow employees all over the organization to work different hours or are you set on everyone working a 9-5? Would you let employees rotate jobs? Provide solid critical analysis of these strategies.
B. The next part of the chapter talks about “Development-Related Challenges.” On page 260 the Thinking Ethically case study brings up a great thought. They provide the question if employers should tell employees that they have high potential. For the final portion of this assignment, discuss the two questions at the end of the case study. Please provide your insights with 3 to 5 paragraphs, but more is welcomed.
Project Conclusion
Have fun with this assignment as it is a realistic approach to HR management in today’s society. I have attached the paper writing rubric for you to review. You do not have to use APA formatting unless you utilize sources in your discussion. The assignment is worth 50 points. This project will address SLO 6 and CLO 1.
