Tasks:
1. Network Topology Setup (2 Marks)
o Create a network topology in Cisco Packet Tracer with the following devices:
▪ 2 Routers
▪ 1 Firewall (Cisco ASA 5506-X)
▪ 2 Switches
▪ 4 PCs (2 PCs in each subnet)
o Assign the appropriate IP addresses for each device in the topology:
▪ Subnet 1: 192.168.10.0/24
▪ Subnet 2: 192.168.20.0/24
o Connect Router1 to Subnet 1 and Router2 to Subnet 2 via switches.
o Connect both routers to the firewall’s external and internal interfaces.
2. Basic Router Configuration (2 Marks)
o Configure static routing on Router1 and Router2 to direct traffic through the firewall.
Ensure traffic from Subnet 1 can reach Subnet 2, and vice versa.
o Provide the necessary routing commands for both routers.
3. Firewall Configuration (3 Marks)
o Configure the Cisco ASA firewall to manage traffic between Subnet 1 and Subnet 2
▪ Allow traffic between Subnet 1 and Subnet 2.
▪ Block traffic from either subnet to external networks.
o Write the necessary firewall configuration commands for setting up the interfaces,
security levels, and Access Control Lists (ACLs).
4. Testing Connectivity and Security (1 Marks)
o Test the network connectivity by pinging from PC1 (Subnet 1) to PC3 (Subnet 2), and
vice versa. Verify if traffic is allowed between the two subnets.
o Test firewall rules by attempting to ping an external IP from any PC in either subnet.
Verify if the firewall correctly blocks external traffic.
5. Report (2 Mark)
o Write a short report (half a page) that explains:
▪ How you configured the firewall.
▪ The results of the ping tests, detailing which traffic was allowed or blocked, and
why.
Submission Instructions:
• Save your Cisco Packet Tracer file and submit it along with the report via Blackboard.
• Your report should explain the network configuration steps, firewall rules, and the results of your
tests.
