 The  hearsay rule is a principle in the law of evidence that excludes  secondhand statements made outside of the courtroom from being presented  as evidence to prove the truth of the matter asserted. The reason for  this rule is to ensure the reliability of evidence by giving both sides  the opportunity to cross-examine the person who actually made the  statement. We also see that there are exceptions to the hearsay rule  including admissions and confessions. Class- do dying declarations apply  here? Why did the hearsay rule come about?
