This is the question: In what way(s) does Aristotle think that happiness depends on luck (NE I.8-11)?
Is this view of how happiness depends on luck compelling? Why or why not?
I need six pages but written in a philosophy formate. I’m providing my last essay I did to show what format I need. The only thing that needs to be added in addition that I did not provide in my last essay was commentary/conclusion to the response to my objection. Generally speaking, the essay should be concise with not a lot of rhetoric. It should start with a basic introduction, then a roadmap that shows where this paper is going: the argument I’m analyzing, my objection(s) to it, etc. Next should be an analysis of Aristotle’s argument he is making within the four chapters. Then it should move to an objection to his reasoning and then following a response to my objection. So for that part it should be framed around what Aristotle would say in response to my objection to his argument. Finally, the essay should be tied off with briefly going over Aristotles response to my objection, but how in the end I stand firm on my point.
I don’t really care too much what stance is taken (probably should be along the lines that Aristotle puts too much emphasis on external goods in some cases when it relates to being happy/living virtuously), however, the analysis and objection (getting Aristotle’s argument correct and being able to say why I disagree with it) is the most important part. I’m providing the chapters needed for answering the question, along with my professors rubric, and a copy of a paper I did for my first midterm (I got a B+/A- on that paper because I forgot to respond to Aristotle’s objection to my objection and write a conclusion, but I’m including it to help for formatting). Also, MLA in text citations of page numbers are required too.
Thank you so much, if you have any questions please let me know.
