Who are your learners and what do you know about them?
Using any of the articles from this module, articles and resources from any other credible sources, and your own observations and professional teaching experiences, talk about your intended learners. What do you know about them? What are their interests, needs, and backgrounds? What do they already know about art and art making, and where did they learn what they have learned about art ? What does the literature on learning and learners add to your understanding about teaching, curriculum planning, and instructional delivery? How does all of this shape your curricular planning? Cite your sources in APA style. Add your references in APA style at the end of your post. Read and respond to the posts of your classmates. Share your observations, knowledge, and resources with your peers.
I teach middle school art (6-8). I have various students who knew little to nothing about art. My first year was push and pull to get students engaged. Now, in my second year, I have learned to learn what makes each student tick and incorporate that within the curriculum so there’s more engagement.
