Complete the following assignment-The Longevity Game (at least 2 paragraphs)
Go to the website https://media.nmfn.com/tnetwork/lifespan/index.html#13 and complete the instructions on the website. This will provide you with an “estimated” life expectancy considering your current age, gender, race and ethnicity, family history, and lifestyle. (it gave me 77 years…. I’m 5 ft 2 120 lbs 33, female, African American, I work two jobs, am a full-time student, and no children. I like to drink on occasions or weekends with friends or at a event not excessively, no family history of drugs or alcohol, not a smoker, my family has no history of cardiovascular problems or any health issues.)
Record your life expectancy age and answer the following questions:
1. What lifestyle factors are associated with either long life or short life? What changes, if any, might you consider to improve your quality or quantity of life? (I need to eat healthier and stop eating fast or processed foods. Get more sleep as well)
2. Looking at life expectancy, what things have you done or NOT done to prepare to live into old age? What planning or changes are necessary for you at this time in order for you to accommodate your own aging? (To not drink as much on weekends and get more rest, to have more fun and not work all the time)
3. What have you taken away from this experience?
4. You will discuss the older adults from your family. Who is the oldest living (alive) relative in your family? (My maternal grandmother is 86)
Who in your family lived from 80 to over 100 years of age? (My maternal grandmother and paternal uncle are 87)
Who is/was the longest living person (decreased or alive) in your family?
Discuss older relatives in your family that are 70 years of age or older. (my parents, who are 70+, and aunts and uncle, who are 70-85 on both sides)
Are they active? (Yes, they all eat healthy, and some work out)
What do they do daily? (My parents go for runs and walks and eat healthily and pray a lot and they like to go out to social events, dinners, plays, concerts, and family gatherings)
How often do you interact with the older adults in your family? (my aunts and uncles quite often, and my parents every day)
How do you plan to improve your interaction with the older adults in your family? (Start attending more family gatherings)
What advice would they give a twenty-year-old? (Write two-three paragraphs.)
