In a series of three short separate answers describe and critically evaluate your organisation’s (CBRE) current approach to the choice and use of data centre standards.
1. What data centre infrastructure standards does your organisation consider applicable and why? Note that this may include published standards that are not currently used by your organisation. Specific discussion should relate to current challenges regarding choice and variety of standards and documents in use which are not true standards.
2. Identify, critique and justify the choice of standards that are being applied by your organisation. This is aimed at determining whether your organisation is meeting technical and business demands in its choice of data centre standards.
3. Identify and argue the case for or against using alternative published data centre standards or other relevant publications. Discussion should highlight the benefits of one standard over another in terms of technology, relevance to overall business operations and business benefit to your specific organisation.
Use relevant material from both academic and industry journals to support your arguments, referencing liberally using Cite Them Right Harvard Style Referencing protocols.
The assessment should follow a short answer format including the following:
Distinct and separate responses to each question.
Responses that directly answer the questions set.
Content clearly articulating any limitations/challenges with the current data centre standards landscape and the suitability of the standards currently available to your organisation’s overall business requirements.
Identification of any shortfalls, limitations or gaps in the currently available published standards that you consider would be of benefit to your organisation.
Robust critique of the standards employed and referenced by your organisation and appropriate arguments for or against using alternatives.
Formal recommendations are not required for this assessment.
