Overview
This assignment is a continuation of the development of your qualitative research proposal, and should build off the topic, theory, and research question you identified in Week 2. In this assignment, you’ll add the qualitative approach (case study, generic qualitative inquiry, or narrative research) that will best allow you to answer your research question, as well as the subjects you’ll use and the data you’ll collect.
Preparation
To prepare for this assignment, recall the topic and research question you identified in Week 2 and identify which qualitative approach the question would best align with (case study, generic qualitative inquiry, or narrative research). For that research question, write five interview questions that could be asked of your sample in order to answer your research question.
Then download the Qualitative Proposal Alignment Analysis [DOCX] template to use for this assignment.
Instructions
Using the Qualitative Proposal Alignment Analysis template provided, first complete the sections that reflect the work from your Week 2 assignment. Then, identify the specific qualitative approach you have selected, and explain why that’s the best choice given the research question you selected. Use references to support your decision.
Next, define your sample, with specific inclusion and exclusion criteria, using feedback from the Week 3 discussion. Explain your sample, describe how it relates to the approach you’re using, and identify a specific sampling strategy that you will use to obtain your sample. Use references to support your decisions.
Then identify the type or types of data that will be needed to answer your research question. Explain how these are aligned with the selected approach, and how the sample you identified is best suited to provide this data. Use references to support your decisions.
Next, identify potential ethical issues in your proposed study. These can include ethical issues related to a vulnerable sample, privacy or confidentiality concerns, potential issues related to the types of data or data collection methods you have chosen, and/or concerns related to the questions you plan to ask.
Last, list the five interview questions you would ask to begin to answer your research question. Use the information on guiding questions to ensure your questions meet those expectations. Describe how you arrived at these particular questions and how they are the best questions to help you answer your research question. Explain how they fit within the selected qualitative approach. Use references to support your decisions.
