Purpose
You are recently hired as the new CEO of a mid-size American publicly-listed corporation. The Board of Directors has asked you to develop a new strategic plan. This strategic plan needs to display the current state of the corporation and its environment, and to lay out plans to further grow and improve the corporation.
In part 3 of the assignment, you need to provide an internal analysis of the company.

Company and information sources
Continue with the company you had chosen for the first assignment. On this page, you can find the relevant information you need for your company for all the written assignments. To write the internal analysis, the following sources are most relevant:
– The company’s annual report (10-K filing)
– Morningstar analyst report
– Mergent financial data

Content
The internal analysis should identify the key strengths and weaknesses of the corporation. It should cover a couple of key elements:
The core resources of the corporation and their exclusivity
The key activities of the corporation and their effectiveness
The efficiency and effectiveness by which the corporation uses investor capital
This part presents insights gained from a resource analysis, a value chain analysis, and a financial analysis.
To write a convincing report, it needs to combine ‘claims’ with ‘evidence’. Claims are concluding statements (“high entry barriers limit competition in this industry”) whereas evidence is factual information this is based upon (“developing a new aeroplane costs billions of dollars and takes up to ten years of time”).

Format and length
It is your task to write a professional internal analysis for your company. Your internal analysis should be between 400 and 500 words in length. This is rather short, so focus on the most important elements.

Examples
An example of an internal analysis written by one of the students in the prior year is available here Download is available here.

Submission
The assignment needs to be submitted as a document file (.doc, .docx, .pdf) through this Canvas page.

Grading
The grade for your internal analysis is based upon the content (70%) and the quality of writing (30%). See the rubric below to understand how content and writing are graded.
